the kids chose their own costumes this year: a blue dog and pink kitty, custom-made by Kate of course! because where can you buy a blue dog and pink kitty costume?

We went to Decordova again this morning. We hit our usual favorite spot, 'the magic tree.'
And the big pipes, which the kids could stay playing on forever.
When we got home, Ben was too excited about making a sculpture garden to take a nap. He has some pretty amazing artistic instincts (I'm impartial, of course!).
It's been a beautiful New England fall. We've taken full advantage of it, spending lots of time outside.
Frankie and I went for a hike in the woods of Lincoln last week.
And she figures out how to do the 'airplane swing,' which she's pretty excited about.
Ben has been a good helper with the raking, but usually jut so he can jump in the pile and mess it all up again.

Ben had been asking to go to the butterfly garden at the Museum of Science for a month. We finally got there yesterday. He had his eye on a really big blue butterfly, and chased it around for a while until it magically landed right on his hand and stayed there for a few minutes, to his delight.

I took the kiddos up to Portland to visit Rosie and Charlie last weekend. Their neighborhood is so nice, with ocean views and hardly any traffic, so the kids could have the run of the place.
The 'fairy path' to the ocean.
The kids got to watch a show together while grownups ate dinner in relative peace. For ten minutes or so.
Rosie and Ben eating bacon together.
Frankie and Charlie making jokes for each other.
